Tubing Drains ( Type S )

Tubing DrainsThe Type "S" tubing drain provides a positive means of dumping the fluid in the tubing string without mechanically manipulating the tubing. Large drain ports provide for quick fluid equalization of heavy crude. A tubing drain can be run on any pumping well to help eliminate the pollution, fire hazard and expense of pulling a wet string.

The Type "S" drain should be run box up and pin down at the desired depth in the tubing string. To determine the proper setting of the drain, multiply the depth in feet by .433 and add 1000psi as a safety factor. Use the appropriate number of set screws, as shown in the chart below, to at least equal the calculated shear value. Use only the minimum number of screws required in order to avoid over pressuring the tubing.

All Tri-alta's Tubing Drains are made from high quality Alloy material and use brass shear screws. Replacement parts for all components are available from stock.
