Pacific Pump Hold-Downs

Tri-alta carries the complete line of parts for Pacific Mechanical and Combination
Hold-Downs for 2-3/8” and 2-7/8” tubing applications. Please see the complete parts breakdown and drawing.

Pacific Hold-Downs can be used in different configurations, these options include;

  • Mechanical, uses only the Lock to secure the hold-down to the seating nipple, the sealing ring acts as the NO-GO and offers a positive seal with the seat.
  • Friction, uses seating cups (no lock) to secure the hold-down to the seating nipple and offers an additional seal between the nipple and hold-down, the sealing ring acts as the NO-GO and offers a positive seal with the seat.
  • Combination, uses both the Lock and Seating cups for maximum hold-down security and seal between the nipple and hold-down, the sealing ring acts as the NO-GO and offers a positive seal with the seat.

Pacific Hold-Downs offer the following advantages over other hold-down styles;

For Servicing: This versatile pump hold-down is engineered and designed to eliminate the problems encountered with wireline operations. Permanent completions or other services such as pressure bombs, temperature surveys etc., can be performed through the seating nipple which has maximum opening and no inside lock springs or restrictions to interfere with the wireline or wireline tools. The same seating nipple will accommodate either top or bottom hold-down pumps and the same hold-down assembly may be used for either top or bottom hold-downs by changing the end fittings. The sealing arrangement has a replaceable stainless steel sealing ring with a reversible stainless steel seat that can be used with or without seating cups or the lock arrangement.

For Reliability: If at any time the stainless steel seat, which is part of the seating nipple assembly, should become damaged or leak, an effective seal can be obtained without pulling the tubing. The hold-down assembly is engineered and designed so that by replacing the spacer ring on a mechanical hold-down with three seating cups, the seal is transferred to the seating cups and nipple with the sealing ring and seat serving as a “NO-GO” and continues to support the load.
